The Southern California Herpetology Association (S.C.H.A.) has been around for over 30 years and has become one of the foundations for education, rescue and exhibits in Southern California. The knowledge and experiance of our members is unmatched in the industry. Our mission statement:
The Southern California Herpetology Association (S.C.H.A.) is dedicated to the aquisition and dissemination of information and knowledge through literary and verbal communication regarding the collection,, examination, management, treatment and propagation of herpetological species.

MEETINGS
The SCHA meets on the second Tuesday of every month. The meetings will start at 6:30 pm and are held at:

Please come on time and be courteous to other members and speakers while entering the building. The monthly meetings consists of:
Questions & Answers- If you have a question or need an answer about an animal come and speak with others like you and see if can get the answers you are looking for
Great Drawing Prizes- During the monthly meeting the SCHA will hold a drawing fo an assortment of great prizes including animals and supplies provided by our Supporting Shops and other members.
Guest Speakers- On occasion the SCHA will host a wide variety of guest speakers for your information as well as your entertainment. Some of the past speakers include: Dr. Tom Greek, Bob Applegate of Applegate Reptiles, Kyle Chang of California Fish and Game as well as many others
SHOWS AND EXHIBITS
The SCHA is often called on to. put on a display or show. These displays or shows can be done for cities, communities, schools or even be part of a larger show. Some places the SCHA has been displaying are The El Dorado Nature Center in Long Beach California and the All American Family Pet Expo in Costa Mesa.
The SCHA prides itself in educating the public, providing a way to introduce reptiles
and amphibians to children and adults as well as providing information on both the animals and their natural habitat.
The SCHA does ask its members to help and participate in these shows. This gives the members a chance to show off their animals and knowledge.
TRIPS AND OUTINGS
Day and Overnight Trips- These trips have included trips to Big Bear, Hemet, Whitewater, Homeland, Verbenia as well as other areas to observe native species in their natural habitat.
Outings- We are currently awaiting information regarding educational trips to the Los Angeles and San Diego Zoos
RESCUE
The SCHA will rescue (not pay for) any animal that can no longer be cared for by its owner and respond to calls of a wild animal in need
The SCHA is a proud sponsor of the Irwin's Conservation Group. we have raised and donated funds to the WildlifeWarriors in an effort to keep Steve Irwin's dream alive.

The SCHA does hold a monthly drawing that can include live animals. The SCHA and its members are not responsible for any items placed in the drawing. If something does not look healthy or is out of place, please bring it to the attention of a board member right away so the situation can be corrected. If an animal is selected, it is done so at your own discretion.
